The synopsis from the reviews I'd read about this documentary from last year would invariably read something like this: An unassuming couple of modest means (he a postman and she a librarian) begin collecting art in the 60s from then unknown new and emerging artists, and eventually amass (in their tiny one bedroom Manhattan apartment) one of the most impressive collections of modern art in the world. Their criteria for purchasing art? One, they had to be able to carry it home and two, the artwork had to be able to fit in their cramped apartment. Having just seen the film, I can say that it's also an inspiring portrait of two extraordinary individuals who selflessly gave their entire lives to their one passion: art.
